SANDAKAN: Sandakan District Police Chief ACP Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek warned the public against illegal racing and drink-driving.

According to him, authorities will continue to monitor such actions through Ops Samseng Jalanan/ Mabuk, which would be held on a regular basis.

During an Ops Samseng Jalanan/Mabuk held around Sandakan and Mile 3 Jalan Utara from 10pm (May 7) to 1am (May 8), a total of 65 cars and 75 people were inspected.

Sixteen summonses were issued as a result of the operation for a variety of offences, including modified car exhaust pipes and driving without a licence. Abdul Fuad said two people were also found exceeding the allowed alcohol limit.

“Enforcement efforts will be continued in the district to prevent and combat road menace and driving while intoxicated,” he said. “Don’t put yourself or others at risk. Let us collaborate to make the road safer to use,” he said.
