KOTA KINABALU: The ambulance service was not able to be activated due to unclear location information from the emergency caller in a recent death case of a man in a Kolombong crash, said State Health Director Datuk Dr Rose Nani Mudin.
Rose said, the Mers 999 line received a call at 12.06pm but it got cut off during the transfer process from Mers 999 Regional Centre to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Medical Emergency Call Centre (Mecc) for case verification and to obtain further information.
“A total of six attempts were made by the Regional Centre and Mecc to call back the caller between 12.07pm and 12.19pm but the caller could not be reached,” she said in a statement, Friday.
At 13.01pm, she said, Mers 999 received a second call from a different caller who provided complete information.
“A responder team from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital II was then activated at 1.04pm and reached the scene at 1.16pm.”
Upon arrival, the responder team did not find any vital signs on the 54-year-old man and he was announced dead by a medical officer.
Rose was responding to an earlier report here.
