Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s chicken supply is sufficient despite the shortage faced elsewhere in the nation, State Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan (pic) assured.
The Deputy Chief Minister said this is due to Sabah’s self-sufficiency when it comes to both chicken meat and egg production, with less than 20 per cent of supplies deriving from imports on chicken parts such as chicken wings.
Sabah’s chicken industry currently slaughters 100,000 chickens daily, which yields 6.6 million kilogrammes of chicken meat. The State also produces 2.5 million eggs daily.
