PETALING JAYA – With the long holiday period done and dusted, Malaysians making their way back to the city have now found themselves in massive jams lasting well into midnight.

A Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) spokesperson stated that as of 10pm yesterday (May 4), vehicles making their way from Alor Setar along the North-South highway heading towards Sungai Petani, Bukit Merah heading to Changkat Jering, Bukit Berapit heading to Menora Tunnel, Ipoh heading to Gopeng and Tapah heading to Songkai were seen stuck in a bottleneck jam.

Sin Chew Daily also reported that a large number of cars were seen travelling from Pagoh, Johor towards Jasin, Melaka and from Simpang Ampat to Seremban.

Meanwhile, the Karak Highway also reported heavy traffic starting from Bentong to Lentang as Malaysians rushed to use the Gombak toll.

LLM also highlighted on Twitter that heavy congestion on the KL-Karak route and the Menora Tunnel area which covers a 263km stretch lasted until 12.32am and 1.07am respectively.
