
Kota Kinabalu: Malaysia is aiming for 20 per cent terrestrial areas and inland waters and 10pc coastal and marine areas to be conserved through a representative system of protected areas and other effective area-based conservation measures by 2025.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor said Malaysia’s target especially in regards to protected areas is clearly stated in National Policy on Biological Diversity 2016-2025.
Malaysia also adopted the United Nations’ Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in September 2016.
