LAHAD DATU: The district Wildlife Department (JHL) has taken action to control elephant herds that invaded and destroyed crops in several oil palm plantations along the Lahad Datu-Sandakan road.

District JHL officer, Silvester Saimin, said action was taken after his party received information at the end of April.

He said an elephant herd from the Kawag Forest Reserve had invaded the farms along Jalan Lahad Datu-Sandakan from Mile 15 to Mile 19.
