Kota Kinabalu: The 49-year-old brother of federal Minister Tan Sri Noh Omar, charged with trafficking in 82.71gm of syabu, will go on trial in December this year.

High Court Judge Wong Siong Tong fixed Dec 5-7 for the trial of Mohd Jusnaidi Omar during mention of the case, Wednesday.

Jusnaidi was accused of committing the offence at 8.30pm on Nov. 27, 2019 at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport’s police station.

He had, on Sept 30, 2021, claimed trial to the charge under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment for life and whipping not less than 15 strokes if not sentenced to death on conviction.

The court also set Nov. 4 for final pre-trial case management.

Jusnaidi was ordered to be further remanded as the charge against him has no provision for bail.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohammed Ali Imran prosecuted, while Jusnaidi was represented by counsel Zahir Shah.
