
Tuaran: A woman suffered a fracture on her hand while several others were slightly injured in a seven- vehicle collision at Jalan Tuaran, near the Telipok Ria roundabout, here, Sunday.
Tuaran Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar said they received a distress call at 8pm and an eight-man team in an engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) utility vehicle was despatched to the scene.
He said the team, assisted by members of the public, helped the victims who are mostly slightly injured, except for the woman who suffered a fractured hand, out from their respective vehicles.
The operation ended at 9.06pm after they ensured that there was no longer any danger, he said.
Meanwhile, Acting Tuaran District Police Chief Raji Hussin Suhodin confirmed the incident and said accident was believed caused by a Toyota Vios which was travelling from Kota Kinabalu towards Telipok Ria when it lost control and veered into the opposite lane.
He said the Vios then hit the side of a Proton Saga and a Perodua Myvi before crashing onto the rest of the vehicles travelling from the direction of Tuaran towards Kota Kinabalu.
The case is being investigated under Rule 10 LN166/59.
