Have you heard of Telaga Walk?

If you were free over the Wesak Holidays take off to Langkawi and spend some time with Tun Mahathi, our Member of Parliament for the Legendary Island.

He is holding an Hari Raya Open House on 16th May, Wesak Day at Telaga Walk on Pantai Cenang.

Typical of Tun M, he welcomes everyone, tourists and residents from all walks of life, local or foreign. After all, it’s Hari Raya’s open house, the only day when you invite everyone into your home.

Telaga Walk is described as a Lifestyle Centre. It is located on Jalan Pantai Cenang, Langkawi.

Pantai Cenang is the “happening area” for tourists and locals alike. It is a 2 kilometre long white sandy beach located on the Western side of Langkawi Island. One of the prettiest sandy beaches on the Peninsula.

When you fly into Langkawi International Airport, look to your right you cannot miss this long stretch of white sandy beach from the air. It looks even whiter in contrast to the deep blue waters of the ocean.

Pantai Cenang is catered for tourists. It has plenty of water sports for you to enjoy.

Klook one of the major water sports operators recommends that you embark on an “adrenaline-pumping parasailing”. “Go fly and touch the sky,” says their advertisement.

But I do not have enough guts. I have always wanted to try parasailing but held back the urge because of my high blood pressure which is above normal.

Instead, I opted to be “tossed and turned” in the waters on a banana boat ride! The kids love snorkelling and swimming in the sea where the waters are clearer than the muddy coast off Penang island.

There are plenty of reputable restaurants and food stalls along the beach. If you love shopping there are shopping malls and little outlets selling souvenirs for you to take home.

Across the road from the beach is Telaga Walk which features Telaga Food Garden, a restaurant on a three-acre area offering a wide variety of food and drinks ranging from seafood, western, fusion, and local ‘goreng-goreng’ fare, mee mamak, kuey teoh, roti canai and more.

It features a 924km area for children’s activities, family gatherings, and picnics for private and corporate events. This is where Tun M is holding his open house on 16th May from 1030 am to 200 pm.

So, have a holiday and enjoy the food at Telaga Walk all day long courtesy of Tun M, the man who devoted his entire life to developing the island where he was sent on his first assignment as a newly trained medical doctor in the 50s.

Ask him all you want about Langkawi. He’s quite an authority on everything that’s built on the island.

When you are done go back to soaking in the sun on Pantai Cenang.
