Forest Green boss Rob Edwards is in talks with Watford.
With their relegation confirmed this week, Roy Hodgson has also announced he will be leaving the manager's job at Watford at the end of the season.
The Athletic says talks between Watford and QPR coach John Eustace have broken down, and therefore the club is now focusing on Edwards.
Watford and Edwards are already in advanced dialogue and the 39-year-old Forest Green manager is now close to agreeing a deal.
Edwards has just led Forest Green to promotion from League Two to League One.
