British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe's late bid for Chelsea was quickly 'dismissed' - despite the offer standing at more than £4billion.
The Times says the bid from Britain's richest man was actually the lowest of the current proposals on the table for the Blues. Ratcliffe's dramatic late bid gatecrashed a three-way race from consortiums attempting to takeover following Roman Abramovich.
Raine Group have been tasked with deciding upon the successful bidders, and are said to be mulling over offers from a consortium led by LA Dodgers part-owner Todd Boehly, a group backed by former British Airways chairman Sir Martin Broughton and an offer led by Stephen Pagliuca, the co-owner of the Boston Celtics.
Reports on Saturday indicated Boehly's consortium were set to be named as the preferred bidder, although nothing has been confirmed at this stage.
INEOS founder Ratcliffe had met Abramovich's £2.75bn price tag, with a further £1.75bn committed to stadium renovations and future transfer budgets.
Ratcliffe's last-gasp bid was initially believed to be the highest offer on the table, but it is now understood to be just shy of the three proposals already submitted.
