Sabah’s last Covid-19 cluster officially closed

Kota Kinabalu: The last Covid-19 cluster in Sabah, the Jalan Segama Lahad Datu Cluster involving students of SM Sains Lahad Datu, was officially closed on Saturday, rendering the State cluster-free.

“The education cluster, which was identified on April 21, has been declared closed by the State Health Department,” he said in a statement, Saturday.

Masidi said Sabah’s caseload dropped to 41 on Saturday from 63 the day earlier, while no new deaths or clusters were

identified.

“After several days of cases rising in Sabah, the figures went down by 22 cases,” he said, adding however that sporadic

infections shot up to 73.17 per cent of the caseload. Kota

Kinabalu topped the list with 18 cases, followed by Penampang (7), Papar (3), Tuaran (3), Lahad Datu (2) and Sipitang (2).

“No new infections were recorded in 15 districts in the

previous 24 hours. Eleven districts recorded single-digit figures with six districts recording only one case,” he said.

Masidi said 40 out of 41 cases were category one and two

infections, while one case in category five was recorded.

On Sabah’s immunisation programme, 1,514 individuals took their vaccines on May 20, of which 338 were adults, 89 teenagers and 1,087 children.
