Kota Kinabalu: Umno’s 76th anniversary celebrated on Wednesday called on party leaders and members to rise again after going through various challenges, especially when the party lost power in the 14th general election (GE14).
Sabah Umno Chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin (pic) made the call in his message in conjunction the celebration.
He said the party should instil a commitment to strengthen the party to face the upcoming 15th general election (GE15).
Bung, who is also an Umno Supreme Council member, expressed confidence that the party will make a strong return after winning the Melaka and Johor by -elections.
“Time will be on our side. The people are back to support us as they believe stability can only be enjoyed with Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN),” he said.
On Umno Sabah, Bung said the party is now 31 years old and being the “youngest son of Umno”, it was still relevant to the people.
Despite the political tsunami after the GE14, Umno Sabah still remained strong, without any division being dissolved.
He said some have left the party after the GE14 but realised they have gone astray but the party always accepted them back through its open door practices.
Since Umno spread its wings to Sabah, the people in the State have enjoyed many changes in terms of development, he said.
