The State Government approved land titles to two villages in the Tanjung Batu constituency, namely Kampung Budaya Pasir Putih and Kampung Tanjung Batu Laut, Tawau.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor handed over the village gazettes to Tawau Municipal Council (MPT) President Joseph Pang during a ceremony held in conjunction with the Sabah Softwoods Berhad (SSB) Hari Raya Open House in Pasir Putih, Tawau, on May 18.

Kg Budaya Pasir Putih which sits in an area of 37.73 hectares was approved on April 30, 2021, while Kg Tanjung Batu Laut with an area of 2,101 hectares was approved on Aug 20, 2021.

Kg Budaya Pasir Putih, which was previously known as Kg Baru Pasir Putih, has almost 6,000 residents and has existed for almost 30 years, while Kg Tanjung Batu Laut has around 5,000 residents since 84 years ago.

The land titles to the two villages provided relief to more than 10,000 residents.

“With the titles, the people of these two villages will not feel worried anymore because their settlements are now on village reserve land,” Hajiji told reporters after the symbolic handover ceremony.

The SSB Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house was held at the SSB Sports and Recreation Club, Jalan Sin San Pasir Putih. Hajiji was accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Juliah Salag, Rural Development Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim, State Secretary Datuk Seri Sr Safar Untong and State Lands and Surveys Director Datuk Sr Bernard Liew.
