TAWAU: Four Indonesians were detained by the Quick Reaction Force (QRF) team after they were caught trying to enter Tawau illegally at a oil palm plantation along Jalan Apas-Membalua at around 6.35pm, Tuesday.

Joint Task Force 2 (ATB2) Commander, Brigadier General Abdul Karim Ahmad, said all the men aged between 19 and 23 were arrested after coming across the QRF team on Ops Benteng Bersama patrol.

“The QRF team came across four suspicious individuals moving in groups with personal belongings at the oil palm plantation.

“Our team then approached them for inspections and found that they did not have valid identity documents.

“They entered Malaysia illegally through the waters of Tawau. All of them were found with personal belongings brought from Sebatik Island, Indonesia,” he added.

Abdul Karim said the four men were taken to the Tawau police headquarters for further action, adding that the case is probed under Section 6 (3) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for living and being in Malaysia without a valid pass or permit.
