Despite his ties to Everton and Liverpool's opponents Real Madrid, James wants the Reds to win due to his friendship with Luis Diaz.
James' Colombia teammate has been a revelation since joining Liverpool in January from Porto - another of James' former clubs.
"I want Liverpool to win," said James.
"I have a lot of friends at Real Madrid, it's a difficult team in these types of games, but I want Lucho (Luis) Díaz to win."
