CANBERRA: Scott Morrison has just arrived at his Liberal party's headquarters and has conceded defeat to Labor's Anthony Albanese, reported BBC.
He congratulated Albanese on his election success, and adds: "This has been a time of great upheaval."
"It is important for our nation to heal" from disruption, he adds.
The BBC's Phil Mercer who is at the scene says that a crowd of several hundred people, including former PM John Howard, had stayed behind to listen to Mr Morrison's speech.
