Uh oh! Jif's peanut butter has been urgently requested to be taken off the shelf immediately following possible salmonella contamination in several of their batches, specifically, those containing batch numbers 1274425 to 2140425, namely with 425 at the last three digits.

According to Health director-general Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, the Ministry of Health was notified by International Food Safety Authorities Network regarding the product recall and after a thorough examination through the Food Safety Information System of Malaysia data, the contaminated products have indeed reached Malaysia.

“Sellers must stop selling the affected batch immediately while consumers who have purchased the product should avoid consuming them,” DG Hisyam added, stating that aside from Malaysia, the contaminated batch has also been shipped to countries like Canada, Thailand, Honduras, Spain, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore.

SOo, if you happen to have purchased a Jif peanut butter recently, it'd be wise to check the barcode and throw it away if found to be contaminated. Wouldn't want to be caught with salmonella!
