IPOH – An aide to an elected representative died when he fell from his bicycle while going down a slope along Jalan Simpang Pulai this afternoon.

Perak police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said Foo Hua Bin, 34, was believed to have been cycling down the slope from Cameron Highlands-Simpang Pulai before losing control and crashing.

The victim, who was special officer to Pasir Pinji assemblyman Howard Lee, died at the scene from head injuries.

“We received information regarding the incident about 2.35pm. The case is classified as sudden death,” he said in a statement last night, Bernama reported.

Upon learning of the incident, Lee posted a tribute on his Facebook page highlighting Foo’s dedication and commitment in the past years.

Speaking to The Vibes, Lee said Foo, who is the youngest in the family, left both his parents as well as a brother and sister.

“We are all still in shock. He’s been with me since day one of my being elected.

“He was more than a staff and a party member. He was as good as family,” Lee said.

Mior advised the public, especially cycling enthusiasts, to exercise caution on the road especially when navigating dangerous slopes, amd ensure that their bicycles are in good condition. – The Vibes, May 23, 2022
