KOTA BELUD: The alternative route connecting Pekan Kota Belud and Kg Nahaba which was cut off after a wooden bridge collapsed due to erosion is in the process of maintenance.

Kota Belud Public Works Department (JKR) District Engineer Jamilah Tukang said the road, Jalan Sayap at Km 4.3, was closed at 2pm Thursday.

“There is no alternative route for the bridge, so PWD is currently carrying out temporary diversion maintenance works at the same location.

“Users are asked to comply with the instructions and safety signs provided to avoid any unwanted incidents,” he said.

He asked the public be patient and they will be updated from time to time.

Meanwhile, in Kiulu, Tuaran, landslides occurred at two locations - Jalan Pahu and Jalan Wasai - as a result of continuous downpour on Thursday.

The route that connects Pekan Kiulu, Jalan Tamparuli-Ranau and Rondogung, Ranau, can still be accessed but only in one direction.

Authorities have been informed on the matter and repair works will be carried out immediately.
