SHAH ALAM, May 5 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari stressed that there would be no increase in assessment tax in the state.

He said the state government’s current priority is to stimulate and boost Selangor’s economy.

“This is to ensure that economic recovery measures can be implemented well,” he posted on Facebook yesterday.

On April 28, state executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han informed that the Selangor government would not approve the increase of any assessment tax that could burden its people, especially during the post-pandemic situation.

Thus, he said the enforcement of the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) new valuation for the assessment tax in the district has yet to be decided.

In a report, last November, MPKj president Najmuddin Jemain stated that the assessment tax for properties in the municipality may be increased in 2023, subject to the state’s approval.

He said the proposed rate of increase would not exceed RM20 for residents who did not make home renovations.
