It was too much for a small place like Jesselton. Any Chinese running on the road at the sight of Japanese was shot at. Many innocent people lost their lives. Many lost their properties. To cut the story short all the rebels were ultimately rounded up. And some gave themselves in.

All their records were taken possession of. One night the leading Chinese were called in for a party (dinner) and were arrested and imprisoned. Soon they got all the facts by third degree methods and torture. All the persons involved were caught and were beheaded and many shot dead.
