Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s new daily Covid-19 cases remained stable at 26 on Thursday, despite previous forecasts that cases would spike after the Hari Raya festivity, said Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

“We have predicted that new infections will increase due to the Aidilfitri and Kaamatan celebrations all over Sabah throughout this month.

“Even though it is still too early to evaluate the situation, so far the rise in cases is marginal and under control.

“This is solid proof that vaccination of the community at large raises their immunity against risk of transmission,” he said in a statement, Thursday, adding that no deaths or new clusters were identified.

He said Kota Kinabalu recorded 11 cases, followed by Tambunan (6), Sandakan (3), Telupid (2), Beaufort (1), Kunak (1), Papar (1) and Penampang (1).

“There are no new cases in 19 districts. This standing tallies with the stabilisation phase that the country is going through,” he added.

Masidi said the majority of cases were mild, with 23 out of 26 being category one and two infections, while two cases were in category three and one in category four. There were no category five infections.
