Liverpool chairman Tom Werner insists they want to keep Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Both attackers have just over a year to run on their current deals.
Werner told the Athletic: "I would like to keep these talks confidential, but obviously we have expressed our wish that they (Salah and Mané) should remain.
"Then I leave it to Julian (Ward, the new sports director).
"I leave the answers of that to Jürgen (Klopp) and Julian. They are very wise. I am sure that they will continue to make excellent new acquisitions."
