Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was delighted with victory at Leeds.

Now, with only four games of the campaign left, 12 more points will guarantee the Premier League trophy remains at the Etihad.

Reflecting on another impressive performance by his players, the City boss admitted the Leeds formation took him by surprise.

“We started really well but didn't expect five in the back and we were surprised but after the goal we suffered a lot, we conceded transitions.

"But after second goal from Ake, we created a lot of chances and so ahead of the Champions League second leg, this is a really good result

“I think the scoreline was more comfortable than it really was but I couldn't expect differently.

“We tried to put away what happened against Real Madrid and focus on the Premier League, fighting.

“We responded so well, defended well - Aymeric, Ruben, Gundo were fantastic. Sterling was so aggressive. I try to involve everyone and they did really well. “

Asked about the intimidating atmosphere at Elland Road and whether it compared to Atletico's Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, the boss added: “I don't want to compare or I'll be in trouble!

“Since I arrived in England, I heard about Elland Road - last year it was behind closed doors, today i experienced it and why it's so special.

“Fighting to stay in the Premier League – singing, chanting and how the people get behind them.

“Leeds is one of greatest teams in England, and I have sympathy for the fans. I said today it would be hard.

“We stuck together and in the end it's important to close that (goal difference) gap a little more."
