Another teacher wins Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan title in Sandakan

SANDAKAN: Frenerietta Sobintun, a 25-year-old teacher, was crowned Sandakan Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan (UNK) on Monday.

Fluent in her mother tongue, she defeated 12 participants and took home a cash prize of RM3,000 cash, a crown, trophy and certificate.

In addition to playing musical instruments such as the keyboard, guitar and ukulele, Frenerietta is also good at singing.

Nelly Sim placed second and brought home RM2,000 cash, a trophy and certificate while third place was won by Cizrinna Nastasia Adaris who brought home RM1,500 cash, a trophy and certificate.

Meanwhile, the Sandakan district-level Sugandoi singing competition was won by 20-year-old Erica Jeffry who performed “Hangad Ku Tomoimo” and “Unduk Ngadau”.

She brought home the main prize of RM1,000 cash, a trophy and a certificate.

Frenerietta and Erica will represent Sandakan at the State-level Unduk Ngadau and Sugandoi Kaamatan celebration which will be held at the end of May.

The Sandakan district-level Kaamatan Celebration 2022 was officiated by Sabah Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin who was represented by Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin at the Sandakan Community Hall.
