KL-raised, Los Angeles Times journalist Marcus Yam has been awarded the prestigious Pulitzer prize for his scathing captures of the Taliban conflict in Kabul, a year ago.

Described by the judges as "raw and urgent images of the US departure from Afghanistan that captured the human costs of the historic change in the country.", Marcus Yam has ever so fearlessly delivered images of the inconceivable catastrophe at the risk of his own life . Maneuvering through the warzones, determined to seize crucial moments of the war as well as its collateral damages... Marcus Yam has proven to be more than worthy of winning such prize.
