SHAH ALAM, May 11 — Selangor is looking to strengthen cultural ties with Japan via a series of events that will take place sometime in the immediate future, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

Earlier today he welcomed the Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia Takahashi Katsuhiko, who visited Amirudin at his office in the Selangor State Secretariat Building.

“We spoke at great length about our perspectives on current national and regional matters,” he said on Twitter.

The Menteri Besar and Takahashi discussed several commonalities that included economic hubs, vital cogs in the national supply chains of their respective nations and susceptibility towards climate change, among others.

Also discussed was the topics of adapting to the challenge of natural disasters and the threat of an ageing society looming on the horizon.

“His Excellency and I also made a mutual commitment to strengthen our cultural ties in events which will be organised in the coming months.

“Thank you again His Excellency Takahashi Katsuhiko for visiting Selangor and I hope to meet with you again soon,” said Amirudin.
