Liverpool are willing to break their club record transfer fee to land Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.

With Sadio Mane leaving Anfield for Bayern Munich, the Reds are seeking a replacement and are focusing on Uruguay international Nunez.

Despite competition from Manchester United, Liverpool are determined to sign Nunez and are willing to make a club record offer of £85m to land him, says the Daily Mail.

Liverpool football chief Julian Ward is already in talks with Benfica about a deal and Nunez is keen to move to Merseyside.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is a fan and last season of Nunez: "A good looking boy! And a decent player as well.

"Really good, really good. I knew before, of course, but he played pretty much in front of me with his tough battles with Ibrahima Konate.

"He was physically strong, quick, was calm around his finish. Good, really good. I always say in these situations if he is healthy, it's a big career ahead of him."
