Since PM Ismail Sabri sported his strange-looking expensive Burberry (blue-black-white) shirt when he met the PM of our neighbouring country, the same design had appeared on a chicken, a Vellfire and a Boeing aeroplane.
These have crept into everyone’s Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram for our enjoyment as we celebrate the debut of Ismail Sabri as “Bapa Fesyen Malaysia”.
We have “Bapa Kemerdekaan”, “Bapa Pembangunan” and so many others why not “Bapa Fesyen Malaysia” for Ismail Sabri who had captured the imagination of Malaysians since he started wearing colourful batik shirts rumoured to be designed by a member of his family, during the pandemic weekly briefings not too long ago.
He had revived the interest in his taste for fashion on his latest trip overseas sporting a Burberry design that had drawn the attention of many witty Malaysians.
One has taken to place the design on a chicken, like an illustration by FB@kenonsabah with a comment appropriate under the current economic climate. “Our price has gone up. Must dress up lah”. Any chicken will look great, in an expensive design outfit, like Burberry!
Chicken prices have been steadily climbing out of reach of the rakyat and the PM decided to put on an RM5,500 branded shirt unintentionally reflecting the spiralling chicken price.
Our Bapa Fesyen Malaysia rides a Vellfire, a vehicle prescribed for all cabinet ministers since Ismail took over as PM.
One cheeky guy who chose to remain anonymous decided to add colour to the boring black Vellfire. If this catches on, black Vellfire will never be boring black ever again.
He too placed the same design on a Boeing aircraft that could well be used to symbolise our national carrier.
It would indeed be in line with Ismail Sabri’s objective to internationalise Bahasa Melayu.
After all, the world now associates our PM with this new design and he is known as the proponent of Bahasa Melayu.
So, our national carrier could go worldwide with it as a brand to promote Bahasa Melayu too.
Holstein Friesian cattle that we think could have inspired the Burberry design might well be used as a symbol for our national aspirations for self-sufficiency in milk.
Under current economic conditions, many are thinking if only we had such cattle we would not have to import milk again.
So, why not use that too as a symbol for our national sufficiency in both milk and perhaps meat?
Except we need a splash of blue on the cow to look like the Vellfire, the aircraft and of course the shirt on Ismail Sabri.
Who says Malaysia is not colourful?
