RANAU: A family was left homeless after fire destroyed their house in Kg Mangkapoh, here, Tuesday.

Ranau Fire and Rescue Department Chief Ridwan Mohd Taib said no one was at home when the fire broke out at 2.50pm.

“We received a distress call from the public informing that a semi-permanent house, about 65km away from the Ranau Fire Station, was on fire.

“We rushed a fire engine to the location along with four personnel led by PBK II MastinSuli.

“Unfortunately, the house was already burnt to the ground when we arrived.

He said no casualties were reported involved, while the cause and estimated losses are still under investigation.

He said the situation was put under control at about 4.50pm.

Meanwhile, he advised all home owners in the district to be mindful of their electrical wiring inside their homes because very old wiring as well as unauthorised connections in a house is dangerous and poses high risk.
