Pejuang chairperson Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad explained that he would still be a prime minister if it were not for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s betrayal. Following Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s departure as Prime Minister on February 24, 2020, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong will have to choose which MP has the majority’s support.

According to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, he will still be in charge of the government to this day if Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim did not meddle in the voting process. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad explained further that when he resigned, the Agong ordered each of the 220 members of Parliament to write down their preferred prime minister.

Even though Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad resigned as the prime minister, he was still expecting to gain the majority vote from the members of Parliament. This is so that he can be reelected as the prime minister. However, what happened after might be the biggest plot twist in Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s life.

Unaware of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s agenda behind his back, he still assumed Pakatan Harapan would pick him because he was a member of Harapan. However, unknowing to him, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had been convincing members of Parliament to vote for him as the next prime minister instead of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

As the result, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received a large following. He had managed to gain 92 votes, which failed Tun M’s plan to become a prime minister once more. Despite losing 92 votes from Harapan, Tun M received 62 votes from sources other than Harapan. However, he is unsure of their identities.

According to Tun M, he would have 154 votes if Harapan stick to their words and give him those 92 votes. That would automatically make him the Prime Minister again. However, because of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Tun M had lost the Prime Minister position. Despite Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s attempt to be a prime minister, he still failed as he did not gain the majority support from the members of Parliament.
