Leeds United were eager to sign young forward Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal.

The 23-year-old has been impressive for the Gunners in the second half of the season, which has led to him agreeing on a new contract.

Now that Nketiah is committing to Arsenal, a transfer is almost impossible this summer.

However, The Athletic claims that Leeds did make a serious attempt to secure Nketiah when they thought he would become a free agent this summer.

The England Under-21 international is now happy at Arsenal, and all reports suggest he will sign a deal with a £100,000-a-week wage in the coming days.

Crystal Palace, Newcastle and Borussia Monchengladbach were also interested in signing Nketiah.
