KOTA MARUDU: Apart from being a morale booster, sporting events can also be a vehicle to share information on Government development efforts.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs), Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili, said such a programme was the best method to disseminate information as the activity involves the grassroots in the area.

“Government programmes like Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) and other efforts, including protecting Sabah’s and Sabahans security and safety, our fights to restore our rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), can be shared with the people, while we play football with them.

“Of course, we also want to promote a healthy lifestyle among the people. A healthy body and mind promotes happier life,” said Ongkili, who is also Kota Marudu MP, Sunday.

Speaking when launching the Kota Marudu Parliament Games, he said a similar programme would also be carried out at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) level.
