MACC nabs GLC senior exec, wife for taking over RM600,000 in bribes

PUTRAJAYA – A senior executive of a government-linked company and his wife have been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) due to allegations of receiving bribes of more than RM600,000 over appointing a logistics company.

An MACC source told Bernama that the couple – one in his 50s and the other in her 40s – were arrested at 7pm yesterday at their home in Petaling Jaya.

It is alleged that the man demanded monthly payments of RM20,000 as payback for appointing a delivery company to transport oil-based products across the country between July 2019 and April this year.

The wife is accused of abetting her husband in making demands and receiving bribes.

The source said the woman allegedly has control over the logistics company’s debit card.

The couple is being remanded for six days, starting today, after magistrate Shah Wira Abdul Halim granted the application.

MACC senior investigator Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim confirmed the arrest made under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009. – The Vibes, June 5, 2022
