The Independent says Ward-Prowse, who scored a personal best of 10 in the Premier League last campaign, is on Newcastle's radar.
The England international is only 27-years-old and arguably playing the best football of his life, while Newcastle want to build a team capable of competing for Europe.
Ward-Prowse is under contract at Saints until 2026 after signing a five-year deal last summer, in order to ward off interest from Aston Villa.
