Kota Kinabalu: Former CM Datuk Yong said it will be relevant and meaningful if Sabah Air’s remaining Nomad aircraft – that was acquired by the then Usno Government in 1975 at the same time as the one that crashed – is stationed at Sembulan’s Double Six memorial site. He said the aircraft, probably the only one left in the world today that is still in one piece, is still in service occasionally used for mapping missions.
“I saw the aircraft fly a few years ago, and I understand it’s still in good shape, but it’s probably not appealing to use for other commercial purposes. I’ll propose to the Sabah Government and Sabah Air that this remaining Nomad aircraft be parked at the Double Six Memorial Site.
