Kota Kinabalu: Kota Kinabalu and Penampang recorded a significant rise in cases, pushing Sabah’s caseload to 51 on Friday from 32 on Thursday.

Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said Kota Kinabalu’s cases rose by 13 while Penampang recorded nine cases more compared to the day earlier.

“Seven districts recorded an increase while six recorded a decrease. Kota Kinabalu and Penampang were the main contributors to the rise in cases on Thursday,” he said in a statement.

Kota Kinabalu topped the list with 26 cases, followed by Penampang (9) and Putatan (3).

He added that 13 districts did not record any new infections, while another 13 recorded single-digit cases, of which nine recorded only one case. Masidi said all 51 cases were recorded in category one and two, of which 68 per cent were sporadic.

No deaths or new clusters were identified.

On Sabah’s immunisation programme, 1,359 individuals took their vaccines on June 2, of which 352 were adults, 80 were teenagers and 927 were children.
