Kota Kinabalu: Experts believe reports of a new Sabah monkey could be the offspring between a proboscis and a silvery langur.
Conservationists were taken aback by the discovery of the new hybrid monkey in Kg Bilit, along the Kinabatangan River, popular with wildlife photographers and eco-tourists.
The “mystery monkey” was speculated to be due to overcrowding in their forest environment leading to more animal interaction and mating within a fragmented Sabah forest habitat reduced in size by logging and agricultural development.
