T’ganu picked to host ‘Malaysian Family’ tour as recognition for educational excellence

KUALA NERUS – The selection of Terengganu as the host of the Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family Aspiration) Tour is seen as a recognition of the educational excellence achieved by the state over the years.

State Syariah Implementation, Education and Higher Education Committee chairman Satiful Bahri Mamat said the tour was a special ‘gift’ for the people of Terengganu as they had the opportunity to learn more about the efforts made by various agencies under the Education Ministry (MOE).

“Based on the feedback from visitors, many are satisfied with the services provided at MOE’s booths as they can obtain plenty of information regarding scholarships, education loans, higher learning institutions and admission to the Institute of Teacher Education.

“I hope the people of Terengganu will make use of their time today and tomorrow to come here and gather as much information from officers on duty, whether at the booths of MOE or other ministries,” he told Bernama today.

Several visitors, especially students, admitted that they were excited to learn about opportunities to pursue their studies with scholarships and loan facilities provided by the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN).

Atirah Nur Huda Abdul Rahman said she and her two friends are eyeing the opportunities to enter any suitable IPT as they would be sitting for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination this year.

“Apart from that, we also came here to visit the booth of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu as many of our seniors are now pursuing their studies at the university,” said the 17-year-old student.

A private sector employee, Shahrul Nizam Mat Amin, 47, said he came to the programme with his two children to register their business for free under the initiative offered by the Companies Commission of Malaysia to full-time university students.

“I told my children that as university students, they need to grab any opportunities provided by the government and keep abreast with the current development so as not to miss the chance.

“The visit to this programme will provide them with general knowledge on the functions of certain ministries because it is important in preparation for entering the professional world,” he said.

Terengganu is the fourth destination for the Malaysian Family Aspiration Tour after Johor, Perlis and Sabah, and this time, MOE has been chosen as the lead ministry for the programme. – Bernama, June 3, 2022
