Holland coach Louis van Gaal has weighed into Manchester United's interest in Ajax defender Jurrien Timber.
The young stopper is a top target for new United manager and former Ajax coach Erik ten Hag.
But former United boss Van Gaal has warned Timber about the move and the threat to his development.
"I think a player of his quality can play in the Premier League. That is not a problem," Van Gaal said.
"If he has to make this big step now, that's the question.
"It is not so wise I think [to move to United]. He has to play."
