New manager Erik ten Hag is still undecided on whether James Garner will be part of his Manchester United squad next season.

The 21-year-old spent the past two seasons at Nottingham Forest on loan, playing a vital role in them gaining promotion last season.

With Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic leaving the club this summer, United are short on central midfielders.

However, Metro states that ten Hag will take his time in deciding Garner's future.

He may want to assess the player in pre-season before choosing to keep him or send him back out on loan.

For their part, Nottingham Forest would be delighted to bring Garner back to the club.
