Kota Kinabalu: DAP will meet Warisan chief Shafie Apdal to discuss possible political cooperation ahead of the 15th general election.
DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook said mutual respect should underpin the talks after Shafie agreed to meet them.
He said his party was also open to negotiations with others as long as they are okay with DAP contesting the seats they had won in the last general election.
“If there are parties that constantly attack us, we will fight back. But we are ready to meet those that want to sit down and negotiate.
“But these parties must allow us to defend the seats we had won before.
“Our upcoming discussion with Warisan should not be seen as DAP pleading for cooperation, but one based on mutual respect,” he told reporters in Damai here today.
He said DAP would be ready for polls if it was held in August.
