Newcastle United's move for Reims striker Hugo Ekitike has hit a stumbling block.

Ekitike has picked up a hamstring injury while on international duty with France U21s which could stall negotiations.

Newcastle are in advanced talks over a deal for Ekitike, with an offer accepted by Reims.

A fee of £36m has been settled, with personal terms now being negotiated. A five-year contract has been tabled, says the Daily Mail.

Ekitike is regarded as one of the best young strikers in Europe after blossoming under Reims boss Oscar Garcia, the former Watford and Brighton coach.
