With the recent soaring prices of goods and without any signs of it improving, most of us have been looking for survival tips, especially financially.
Along with the shortage of food where chicken meat seems to be running scarce in markets, the Perak State government appears to have an idea on how to battle the issue.
Plant your own vegetables & keep livestock
According to a report by Astro Awani, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad called for the people in the state to plant their own vegetables and rear livestock for their own consumption.
He said that this can be seen as an effort to reduce the burden of the rising living cost and not only that, but it can also be a temporary means to cope with the food shortage.
Additionally, he also reminded people to not heavily rely on imports at this time.
“Through campaigns at various places in this state, I try to tell the people that we plant or breed what we want to eat by ourselves.”
Saarani also said that to boost food security, the Perak State Agriculture Development Corporation (SADC) with the cooperation of the State Agriculture Department will be developing the Manong Agrotechnology Park project in Kuala Kangsar on 40 hectares of land.
The SADC has also started that the Perak Halal Hub project will further boost food security and provide employment while helping the state government to generate economic opportunities for the people.
Late last year, the Penang Consumer’s Association also suggested people to plant their own vegetables in order to reduce expenses.
