Kota Kinabalu: Women, Family and Community Development Deputy Minister Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff said 145 cases of domestic abuse were reported in Sabah in the first four months of this year.
She said the data, which was based on the police’s figures, indicated an increase over the same period last year, where 126 domestic violence cases were reported in Sabah.
“Despite the slight increase, I believe and am confident that we can address the issue with strong cooperation from all parties, including Skuad Wanita Anti-Jenayah (Skuad Waja) in its role in the community,” she said after officiating the Sabah Skuad Waja Semarak Programme at Imago Shopping Mall, here, Sunday.
