Virgil van Dijk is a self-confessed fan of Liverpool transfer target Darwin Nunez.
Liverpool witnessed the Benfica star's talents at first hand this season. The 22-year-old scored both home and away as the clubs clashed in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Speaking to Rio Ferdinand before the Champions League final with Real Madrid last month, Reds centre-back Van Dijk namedropped Nunez as one of his toughest opponents, along with four other forwards.
He said: "I've played against Sergio Aguero, who was obviously unbelievable. (Lionel) Messi, arguably the best player in the history of football, in my opinion.
“(Kylian) Mbappe is different, quick... (Erling) Haaland, also Darwin (Nunez). He's a bit similar, very direct and quick, tall and strong. It's quite difficult to play against those guys."
