Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce is confident keeping hold of Dwight Gayle.
Bruce previously tried to sign Gayle on a number of occasions and was looking forward to finally working with the 29-year-old when he was appointed last summer. Gayle only returned from a calf injury to action last month and has made three appearances as a late substitute since then.
"I don't want to lose him. I made it plain in the summer that I don't want to lose Dwight Gayle. Unfortunately, he's been injured up until the last month," Bruce told reporters ahead of the game against Man City.
I see him at the moment knocking on the door because the more he's training....he's got an infectious enthusiasm about him on the training ground so I don't want to lose him, that's for sure. I can't see him leaving in January."
