PETALING JAYA: DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang expressed concerns over certain individuals who pride themselves as racists, slamming them for being responsible for the current polarisation of the Malaysian society along racial lines.
He reminded Malaysians of the basis upon which the nation was founded, be it the Federal Constitution or the Rukunegara.
“If we had kept loyal and consistent with the five Rukunegara principles, we would not have suffered the agony, infamy, ignominy and iniquity of be regarded by the world in the past decade as a global kleptocracy. If we had been loyal and consistent with the Rukunegara objectives and principles, we would have become a more progressive, successful and united nation than we are today,“ he said in a statement today.
Kit Siang said to be Malaysian is not to be identified with any one community but with all the different communities who have made the land their mother country.
“In other words, a Malaysian is a Chinese who is not 100% Chinese but has an extra dimension which could be described as Malaysia-plus; a Malay who is not 100% Malay but with a Malaysia-plus dimension; and an Indian who is not 100% Indian but with a Malaysia-plus dimension,“ he added.
“Nobody will feel proud of being a 100% racist, for it will be going against the Rukunegara and everyone will try to be a Malaysian.”
