Barcelona vice-president Jordi Mestre has resigned from the board.

Mundo Deportivo says Mestre left his post due to disagreements with the Board of Directors, which is headed by president Josep Maria Bartomeu, particularly with regard to the club's direction moving forward in a sporting sense.

Mestre had held the position of sporting vice-president since 2014, following Bartomeu's rise to president after the dismissal of Sandro Rosell. However, his presence on the board has dates back to 2010, when he was named responsible for football training, Barcelona B and the women's side.

He was one of the biggest influences on the directorate, someone the current president had the utmost confidence in.
